5 things only mama knows about BG

1. Your favorite colors are pink, purple, and  yellow-- "because yellow looks like gold."

2. Your first freckle on your nose is named Joe and he's followed by the two on your belly named Ben and Jerry.

3. The pick spot on Home Blankie is next to the cow jumping over the moon taggie and on your School Blankie it's next to the moon and stars.

4. Your favorite season is fall because you love Halloween --And you really wish Reilly would move back so you could trick-or-treat with her again.

5.  You prefer McDonald's apple slices over their french fries, but you dip them in ketchup.

And one thing BG doesn't know about mama...

When you sneak in my bed at 4 in the morning to snuggle, I'm just pretending to be asleep so you'll stay :)

In the closet this morning trying on shoes-- my new TOMS wedgies that are oooh so cute!

BG enters.

Mama: What do you think of my new shoes?

BG:  With that outfit?  I don't think so.

Mama:  Really? 

BG (pointing at my racks of shoes): Have you tried on all the rest of these yet?

Mama:  No, I thought these were cute.

BG:  No.  (Pointing at another pair) And don't wear those either cause they look like my grandfather's shoes.

Mama:  Thank you Ms. fashion consultant.  I'll wear the plain black ones... AGAIN!

And for the record, I didn't comment on the fact that she's wearing bright pink boots with a red shirt today.  She definitely has a style all her own and she's not too shy to share it!

A tad Irish-er than you

In a conversation on St. Pat's day with BG she asked what makes you Irish.  I told her it depends on where your ancestors are from. Why I used that word I have no clue but fortunately she bought it. 

She asked where she was from, so after telling her that daddy's ancestors are from Ireland which makes her Irish, she said with extreme jealousy... "Ohhh man that means he's Irisher than me!" 

I told her no, she's the Irish-est  :)

 

Note for future reference:

If you plan to tan on St. Pats day, be sure to remove the shamrock sticker from your cheek. 

...Or maybe it just means I'm the Irishest?!

Irish-est

This week we celebrated lucky St. Pat's Day.  BG had been looking forward to it for weeks.  She was so excited to wear her new green shamrock shirt from Grammie that on the actual day she thought was too long for her.  Whatev. 

When I picked BG up from school she told me all about the leprechauns that messed up then cleaned up her classroom... Good Leprechauns-- I say.

Then she asked me "Mama, what makes you Irish?"

Me: Well, it's where your family is from.  Daddy's family is very Irish, so you're Irish too.

BG:  Uhhhhh!  He's Irisher then ME! (sad face)

Me:  Well, I have a bit of Irish too, so you are Irish on both sides.

BG:  Fwwwww!  So am I the Irish-est?

Me:  Yes BG, you're the Irishest!

 

PS. Note to self.  When tanning on St. Patrick's Day, take the shamrock sticker OFF your face! 

Flight of the butterflies

The weather hit 60 degrees for about a minute, just long enough to send our butterflies and ladybugs on their way into the big backyard.

 
Best bud H joined us to say farewell.

The ladybugs were a little more confused on what was going on... although how can you blame them when they've been spoiled with chopped up smushy raisins all this time

We did have one early burial for the early riser butterfly, but BG was very "B" about it... and so was grammie who was in town to say her goodbyes.
