Hangin' up her heels

Today is a banner day -- and one I never actually imagined.  She's been telling me since I was two that she'll be working till she dies.  I guess I just believed her! 

I'm so proud and happy to announce that Grammie is writing her next chapter, beginning today.

Here are a couple of things I know for sure:

1. The halls of Monsanto are gonna be a lot quieter.
2. Grammie's pinky toes are breathing a sigh of relief.
3. I won't be hearing "hold a sec," every time I call.
4. Mac's customer care call volume is escalating.
5. Starbucks is dedicating a recliner.
6. Grandparent's day at BG's school will never be the same.
7. And she deserves every lunch, party, and recognition she's gotten!

Congratulations Grammie on retiring in style!  You are my hero.

A date with the Claw

For the second night in a row I will attempt to win the pink bunny located at entrance B of the local Wall-mart. To BG's dismay, the claw went right over bunny's ears and back to it's position -- taunting us with its dramatic "release" over the empty collection shoot. And a DOLLAR!  Seriously, who charges a dollar per grab?  We both left broke and in tears.

I thought the image of pink bunny would fade after dinner, books, and a full night's sleep.  Alas, this morning BG woke me with pleading eyes asking if we could go back and try again for pink bunny.  I explained that the people who make the machine set it so when the claw comes down it doesn't actually close.  It WAITS until it's gone up a little bit to close, and therefore misses the bunny completely!  To this she replied in disgust: "Uhhhh, those people are totally cheating! They are not my best friends!"  I thought we had come to a resolution.  Until her next pleading request: "so can we go back tonight after school and try again mama?  I think he still might be there." 

Guess who has a date tonight... with the CLAW!
